Building Services Electrical Design Engineer – Dublin

The building services engineer manages the whole design process on a variety of assigned projects while working autonomously. The Engineer will work on a number of projects at once, and managerial responsibilities are anticipated. In order to help you with your professional development, senior business members will mentor you. In return, you will be expected to mentor and support your other employees as needed. You will also be expected to do electrical design and CAD operating tasks for the building environment on a variety of projects as part of the job. It is required of engineers to design the projects they are given. Additionally, you will be required to supply your own transportation in order to visit construction sites and conduct surveys and inspections on the organisation’s behalf.

  • Possesses a proven capacity for project management, problem-solving, and effective collaboration with both internal and external counterparts.
  • As a member of an integrated project team, take the lead on engineering design and design management activities.
  • To specify project needs and provide technological solutions, work directly with clients and project engineers.
  • Fire alarms, illumination, and emergency lighting design, for example, as well as other current rules and design requirements, are addressed in the design and specification of electrical engineering solutions.
  • Oversee the creation of information, including design development, construction details, services coordination, technical submittals, subcontracts, etc., during the pre-construction engineering phase.
  • On projects, offer the design and construction teams technical help.
  • Assess the requirements of a project, breaks project into tasks and works with to determine scope of work.
  • Write scope of work documents for Electrical Building Services design based on meetings with the client.
  • Prepare engineering studies and schematic designs for new systems and analyse the operation of existing systems as required.
  • Work with other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to building codes / regulations is required.
  • Review contractor technical bids and application for payments. Has a thorough understanding of the construction process.
  • Coordinate all aspects of project document completion within company and externally with clients and other design professionals.
  • Prepare or reviews construction budgets based on experience and scope of project.
  • Expertise in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer aided drafting.
  • General knowledge of system design and applicable Building Services codes and standards.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Services Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 – 10 years’ of post-graduate experience working for a design firm
  • Candidates should have experience designing and managing a variety of building services projects
  • Revit experience is desirable but not essential
  • Experience with Lighting Reality software and external lighting design is preferred
